Updated review as follows as of 28 July 17: What I thought would be a longterm patient doctor relationship has NOT been the case. I have 5, yes 5, household members that go to VEI. On today, I go in for a scheduled appointment but the receptionist/ appointment taker didn't notate the account properly. Therefore, showing that a payment was due at the time of the visit. Prior to scheduling the appointment I spoke with the insurance company which gave an authorization so that there would be no fee at the time of visit. I advised the "so called" receptionist/notetaker of this and advised her to notate the account, so that it'll be known what to do for the authorization. Did that happen? No it didn't. Not only did it not happen but when I came for the appointment I had to wait 45 minutes for the insurance company to open, so that VEI could get the authorization and another 15 minutes before being called back. Time is money and VEI was NOT respectful of time. On today, there was no manager available because she was out of town. There also was NOT anyone acting in the manager's behalf while she was out of the office. This is a fail on so many levels. Again, customer satisfaction isn't their strong point. The appointment was scheduled with Dr. Jawad Daniel. A review here praises him but I'm NOT impressed by him at all. The current receptionist and Dr. Daniel stated that I needed to pay the fee and then get reimbursed for the fee later. While that's all well and good, we are NOT talking about paying $1. Reimbursements take several weeks to process. No one at the location advised of an immediate reimbursement. While I may have been born st night, I was NOT born last night. I've been through this chaos at various medical offices throughout Richmond over the years and reimbursements are not immediate. I needed immediate results today. If the manager decides to do something about this, here's a few suggestions for you as follows: 1) Train your staff to do their job and not some of the job 2) Train your staff to use empathy with the patients because without patients there's no VEI 3) When the manager is out of the office, assign a staff member as the manager on duty while you're out of the office. VEI thank your staff because you've just lost five patients due to your lack of respect for my time and for treating a patient that has dropped lots of money at your practice as if I'm not valued. Since I'm not valued, then there's no need for me to spend my hard earned money to keep disrespectful staff employed. Remember, patients schedule appointments around their work schedule and other life events. You expect patients to be on time and will charge a fee for a missed appointment. Since you've wasted my time and wasn't on time, then I should be reimbursed in some way. Hint: money or discounted services work well for me. ******************************************* There's a lot of optometrists and opticians available. Although it's usually crowded, they do their best to get you in and out as quickly as possible. If you need an appointment, do your best to schedule as early as possible as appointments get booked quickly. If you're having problems with your eyes or just need to get eyeglasses or contacts, then this is your one stop shop. The staff are friendly!
